You need to watch the original spanish film called REC, it is much better than the american remake and it has extra stuff in it.

You find out how and why the thing in the loft is there , i was not impressed with the americans cutting out all the religious stuff, which explains everything.

Another film you should watch now before the crappy hollywood remake is a swedish film calld Let The Right One In. Absolutely brilliant film. Try not to look it up on imdb or it will spoil it for you if you know what it is about. Trust me you will enjoy i if you like films and don't mind subtitles.
